Swatt Architects is an award-winning firm known for fusing a modernist sensibility with the challenges of California landscapes to create unique spaces for living. The firm was founded in 1975 by Robert Swatt, FAIA, and has been recognized with more than 45 design awards. With new houses throughout California, the firm has gained international recognition for creating distinctive, livable modern architecture that emphasizes the creative use of structure; detailing that expresses the nature of materials, spatial continuity; and transparency that expands interior space and dissolves the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
Recent and current projects in Marin County include the Gradman House in Inverness Park (near Point Reyes), an East Bay American Institute of Architects award winner in 2006 and Architectural Record “House of the Month’ in March 2007; the Conrad House in Sausalito, featured in New Home and California Homes magazines in Spring 2008 and also an East Bay AIA award winner in 2006; the Woodland House in Kentfield; the Methven House in San Anselmo; the Braz/Periera House in San Rafael; the Hudson/Panos House in Healdsburg; the Garay House in Tiburon; and the Glazer/Morton House in Point Reyes Station
“Danielle Chavonon has a keen understanding of the kind of architecture we strive to create . . modern, livable . . and timeless.”
